First game – San Giljan vs Sirens
Second game – Neptunes vs Sliema

Thus both Neptunes and Sliema will start their game knowing fully well the outcome of Sirens vs. San Giljan.

On paper, with San Giljan also still searching for their first point, Sirens start as clear favourites to win their game. The first round game (Sirens won 13-10) was not such a clear victory for Sirens yet the latter are now passing through a 5-game (counting the games vs. ASA Youths) unbeaten streak.

The Saints, especially if they recover Matthew Zammit, could sneak up a surprise as they did last year.

Whatever the result of the first game, the derby between Sliema and Neptunes will still be interesting.

A Sirens win will put Neptunes out of the title race as there would be a 3-point gap. However Sliema would still be in the running as there would be only a two point margin.

Thus if Neptunes manage to beat or draw with Sliema, then the latter’s hopes will be dented and the league would go to St. Paul’s Bay.

If Sliema beat their rivals, then they would rejoin Sirens at the top of the table and a league decider would be needed.
i.e. Sirens win:
  • Neptunes win: Sirens champions
  • Sliema win: Sirens and Sliema equal points = decider
  • Neptunes-Sliema draw = Sirens champions

The scenario would change drastically if San Giljan manage to win points vs. Sirens.

In the case of a draw, Sirens would go to 8 points.

In the next game: (alphabetical order)
  • Neptunes win = Neptunes and Sirens equal points = decider / Sliema out
  • Sliema win = Sliema champions
  • Neptunes-Sliema draw = Sliema and Sirens equal points = decider / Neptunes out

If San Giljan win:
  • Neptunes win = Neptunes champions
  • Sliema win = Sliema champions
  • Neptunes-Sliema draw = Sliema champions
